Delmer Hudson

August 5, 1929 — January 10, 2020

Delmer Douglas Hudson departed this life Friday morning, January 10, 2020 at Encompass Heath in Jonesboro.  He was born in Paris, Tennessee on August 5, 1929, to E. C. and Ruby Norton Hudson.

He met and married his first wife Denaicia Lee in Paris.  They were married forty-seven years and raised two children.  He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  The family then moved to Michigan where he was a long-time employee of Ford Motor Company.  After his retirement from Ford they moved to Jonesboro to be near his son.  In his retirement years, he became a well-respected handyman and remodeler.  He was a faithful member of Southwest Church of Christ.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Denaicia Lee Hudson, and two sisters, Estelle Barrett and Allene Parish.

He is survived by his second wife of twenty-two years, Jeri Hudson; a son, Steve Hudson (Gail) of Jonesboro; a daughter, Janet Hudson Campbell of Huntsville, AL; a stepdaughter, Jayneen Akins (Richard) of Jonesboro; a sister, Betty Paschall of Knoxville, TN; six grandchildren, Aaron Hudson of Little Rock, Will Hudson of Jonesboro, Hudson Campbell and Timothy Garza both of Huntsville, Al, Micah Johnson (Joe) of Jonesboro, and Chase Akins (Amanda) of Florence. AL; and six great-grandchildren: Noah and Cason Stinson of Jonesboro, and Alexa, Kayleigh, Isaac, and Nathan Akins of Florence, AL.

Visitation will be at 2:00 pm Sunday at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home with a funeral service following at 3:00 pm with Jimmy Adcox and Richard Akins officiating. A second visitation will be held Monday at  New Liberty Church of Christ from 11 am to 12 pm with the service to follow at 12. Pastors Tom and Ann Robins will officiate the service.

Burial will follow the service in the New Liberty Cemetery with military honors.

Pallbearers will be grandsons: Aaron Hudson, Will Hudson, Hudson Campbell, Timothy Garza, Chase Akins and Joe Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers will be great grand-children: Noah and Cason Stinson, Alexa, Kayleigh, Isaac and Nathan Akins.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to St. Judes Children’s Hospital or Crowley Ridge Academy in Paragould.
