Edith Woodruff Bucy

Edith Woodruff Bucy, age 95 of Puryear, TN, died Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at Henry County Healthcare Center in Paris, TN.

She was a longtime cook at Buchanan School in Buchanan, TN.  Edith was a member of Bethlehem Church of Christ in Buchanan, where she was a part of the Bethlehem Quilting Club.  She enjoyed reading, traveling, quilting, and crocheting.

Edith was born November 3, 1926, in Etowah, AR, to the late James Nelson Herbert Woodruff and the late Lister Kirby Woodruff.

She was married June 21, 1945, to John Paul Bucy, who preceded her in death on May 6, 1996.

She is survived by one daughter, Becki (Bruce) Walker of Buchanan, TN; one daughter-in-law, Tamela Bucy of White House, TN; one sister-in-law, Bettye Jackson of Taylor, MI; four grandchildren, Shannon (Cornbred) Parker of Springville, TN, Shelley Bucy of Puryear, TN, Shereece (Joseph) Walker of Paris, and Dana Paul Thompson of McKenzie, TN; six great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends who called her “Granny.”

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one son, Paul Edwin Bucy; one sister, Dorothy Annie Woodruff Chism; six brothers, Bennie Sylvanious Jackson, Johnny Woodruff, Thomas Jacob Woodruff, Charles Lee Woodruff, Lloyd Herbert Woodruff, and Kenneth Arielle Woodruff.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242.  A graveside service will be held Sunday, December 19, 2021, at 2:00 pm at Mount Zion Church of Christ Cemetery in Puryear, TN, with Mike Wimberley officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joseph Walker, Bryce Walker, Dana Paul Thompson, Cornbred Parker, Jesse Parker, Ross Wimberley, and Jake Parker.

Burial will follow the graveside service in Mount Zion Church of Christ Cemetery.

The family would like to give special thanks to Mrs. Edith’s caregivers, Wendy Crouch, Kim Waters, and Euricka Webb.
