Obituary

James Dwayne Hunter, age 80 of Gallatin formerly of Paris, died July 28, 2022.

 

Dwayne was a longtime Gideon and a proud member of Sumner County, TN East/Macon Camp which he helped start.  He was a longtime member of Nazarene Churches in both Gallatin, TN and Hendersonville, TN.  Dwayne worked in the automotive parts industry for over 60 years in both management and ownership.  He opened and operated the House of Parts in Hendersonville, TN, which is still in operation under different ownership.

 

Dwayne was born July 8, 1942, in Paris, TN, to the late Harris Rozell Hunter and the late Dorotha Bernice Call Hunter.

 

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elsie Boone Hunter; two children, Kim Hunter (Terry) Mimms, and Jeff (Tonya) Hunter; three grandchildren, Cori (Eli) Beaird, Blake (Savanna) Hunter, and Hunter Houston (Damian Sowers); six great-grandchildren, Edwin, Davey, Bristol, Oakley, Rylan, and Lainey; three sisters, Patricia Walker, Margaret Cherry, and Brenda Hosford; and several nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Mark Willis Hunter.

 

A first visitation will be held Friday, August 5, 2022, from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Gallatin First Church of the Nazarene.  Visitation will continue on Saturday, August 6, 2022, from 1:00 P.M. until time of service at Gallatin First Church of the Nazarene, with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 pm with Pastor Kevin Rector and Bro. James Bell officiating.  Active pallbearers will be members of the Sumner East/Macon Gideon Camp. Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Shehane, Matt Johnson, Lee Myers, Fred Kilmon, and Logan Martin.

 

A second visitation will be held on Friday, August 12th from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home in Paris, TN.  A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 13th, at 2:00 P.M. at Olive Branch Cemetery in Cottage Grove, TN, with burial to follow the service.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Gideons International.
