James R. “Jim” Forsythe, age 93 of Paris, TN, died Thursday, June 4, 2020, at his residence.
He retired after a 35 plus year career as a professional engineer with Ford Motor Company, where he worked all over the world. He was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran. Jim received his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and his master’s degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York. He was a 32nd degree, 65-year Mason and currently a member of the Paris Lodge. He also was a Shriner where he served as a Jester. Jim enjoyed genealogy, traveling, and fishing, both saltwater and freshwater. He loved his family very much and was a member of Maplewood Baptist Church in Paris.
Jim was born December 21, 1926, to the late Francis Milton Forsythe and the late Pearl Loveall Forsythe.
He was married January 21, 1985, in Brownsville, TX, to Norma Kay Hopkins Forsythe, who preceded him in death on June 6, 2017.
He is survived by one daughter, Leigh Anne (John) Humphries of Brandon, MS; two sons, Ken (Carol Pinson) Lacy of Puryear, TN, and Tim (Mary Lynn) Lacy of Puryear, TN; six grandchildren, John “Jay” Humphries, III, James Macon Humphries, Joseph (Beth) Humphries, Amber (Russell) Hill, Kaylynn Lacy, and James Lacy; and four great grandchildren, Ashlyn Aaron, Kane Price, David Hill, and Savannah Hill.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN. A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 6, 2020, at 11:00 am at the Walker Cemetery Pavilion in Paris, TN, with Craig Peevyhouse and Corey Cain officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be James Lacy, Jay Humphries, Macon Humphries, Joe Humphries, Benny Akers, and Michael DeMorato. Named as an honorary pallbearer is Tommy Lemonds.
Burial will follow the graveside service in Walker Cemetery.
