Johnny Oliver

Johnny Oliver, age 77 of Springville, TN, died Sunday, September 27, 2020, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris.

He retired after many years as the owner and operator of Oliver Machine & Welding.  He formerly worked at Paris Landing State Park Golf Course pro shop.  Johnny was an avid golfer and a former Gideon.  He was a member and deacon at Point Pleasant Baptist Church in Buchanan.

Johnny was born October 19, 1942, in Sikeston, MO, to the late Brooks Oliver and the late Martha Rucker Oliver.

He was married August 20, 1961, to his wife of 59 years, Brenda Choate Oliver, who survives, of Springville, TN.

Along with his wife, he is also survived by one son, Randy Oliver of Springville, TN; one sister, Judy (Dennis) Suiter of Martin, TN; two brothers, Jim (Kathy) Oliver of Hendersonville, TN, and Jerry (Anita) Oliver of South Fulton, TN; three grandchildren, Patrick Oliver, Wayne Oliver, and Amanda Oliver; and three great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one son, Mike Oliver; one daughter-in-law, Connie Oliver; and one brother, Joseph Allen Oliver.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242.  The body is to be cremated.  Memorial visitation will be Thursday, October 1, 2020, from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm at Point Pleasant Baptist Church, 13700 Highway 79 N, Buchanan, TN 38222.  The memorial service will be Thursday, October 1, 2020, at 5:00 pm at Point Pleasant Baptist Church, with Robert McBroom and Larry Dukes officiating.

Named as honorary pallbearers are the deacons and former deacons of Point Pleasant Baptist Church and his golfing buddies.
