Karen Krysowaty

October 30, 1950 — October 21, 2021

Karen Lee Krysowaty, age 70 of Paris, TN, unexpectedly died Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris.

She was born on October 30th, 1950 in Mt. Pleasant, PA to her late parents Violet Opelar Slowinski and Raymond Slowinski. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, friend, grandmother, and so much more to so many.  She graduated Chicago State University in 1972 with an anthropology degree and it was there that she met the love of her life of 50 years, Michael.  They married on October 15, 1971 and together they raised a family of five sons in Peotone, IL.  She was a caring den mother in her sons’ Cub Scout pack, President of the local School Board, and cared for many children in the local neighborhood. She retired as the office manager of the Peotone Animal Hospital in 2015, a place she always held close to her heart. She and Michael ventured down to Paris, TN for their retirement along with their dear late friend Linda (Wally). She formed lasting friendships no matter where she went.  She had a zest for life, a crafting bug, a gardener’s green thumb, and a love for glitter which made her one magical grandmother. Making messes meant fun was being had and life was being lived. She loved helping others and always tried staying close and connected with family and friends no matter the distance.

She is survived by her husband, Michael, as well as her five sons, Aaron of Centralia, IL, Sean (Christine) of St. Louis, Craig of Peotone, Keith of Peotone, and Adam of Peotone; Seven cherished grandchildren Steven, Kaelyn, Jackson, Owen, Finley, Jane, and Vivian who had their own names for her including GG, George, or Gma; Siblings Raymond Slowinski of IL, Diane Slowinski of IL, Kenny Slowinski (Helen) of IL and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were family.

Local arrangements are being handled by the fine folks at Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street in Paris. The body is to be cremated with a memorial service to be held at a later date near Peotone, IL.

In lieu of flowers, Karen would have wanted anyone close to her to plant a flower in their garden in her honor. Monetary donations or memorials can be made to the Amputee Coalition in Knoxville, TN (888-267-5669).
