Obituary

Kenneth “Ken” Voight, age 69 of Springville, TN, died Monday, May 4, 2020, at Select Specialty Hospital in Nashville, TN.

 

He retired after a lifetime career in the U.S. Army, serving in both the 101st and the 82nd Airborne Division during the Vietnam era.  Ken was a member of the Amvets Post 45 in Buchanan, TN.  He enjoyed riding his golf cart through the neighborhood, going to casinos, and reading.  He loved being with his family, especially his granddaughter.  Ken was a fun-loving guy and a good friend to everyone he knew.

 

Ken was born July 8, 1950, in South Haven, MI, to the late John William Voight and the late Elaine Virginia Adam Voight.

 

He was married October 29, 1988, to Sandra Lynn Murphy Voight, who survives, of Springville, TN.

 

Along with his wife, he is also survived by one son, Kenneth Voight, Jr., of Springville, TN; four sisters, Virginia Cooley of Clermont, FL, Diane (Ed) Johnson of Cooper, MI, Rita (Al) Bledsoe of Fayetteville, NC, and Nora (Arnold) Jones of Gobles, MI; four brothers, John (Diane) Voight of Lafayette, IN, Ernie (Meta) Voight of Cherokee Village, AR, David (Linda) Voight of Midway Park, NC, and Paul Voight of Cherokee Village, AR; mother-in-law, Jeanne Murphy of Springville, TN; one granddaughter, Stormie Voight of Lynnville, TN; special friends, Joe Bernardi of Houston, TX, and Cathy Buchanan of Springville, TN; and several nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Brasfield and Rosemarie Voight; one brother, Raymond Voight; father-in-law, Karl Michael Murphy

 

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, P.O. Box 788, Paris, TN 38242.  The body is to be cremated with a memorial service to be held at a later date.
