Mary Douglass

Mary Buie Douglass, age 86 of Paris, died Saturday, October 3, 2020, at her residence.

She retired from Wal-Mart after working 17 years. Before working at Wal-Mart, she worked at Big K for several years. Mary was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed taking care of  her grandkids.

Mary was born February 21, 1934, in Paris, TN, to the late Elmus Gilbert Buie and Florence Mae McFadden Buie.

She was married December 18, 1949, to Billy Joe Douglass, who preceded her in death February 3, 2009.

She is survived by a daughter, Judy A. (Don) Drummond of Paris; two daughters in law, Lynn Douglass and Vicki Douglass both of Paris; one sister, Clara McCormick of Georgia; four grandchildren, Alan (Jennifer) Douglass, Angie (Curtis) Sullivan, Jeremy (Tiffany) Douglass, and Logan (Katie) Drummond; seven great grandchildren, Michael Drummond, Peyton Drummond, Abigail Marie Black, William Sullivan, Bailey Douglass, Joe Douglass, and Garrison Douglass; and extended family members, Jeff Madden, Penny Tindale, and Amy Spain.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ruth Douglass; and two sons Donald Joe Douglass and Billy Dale Douglass; four sisters, Louise Overby, Wanda France, Inez Taylor, and Betty Buie; and three brothers, Roy Buie, Ray Buie, and Billy Buie.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242.  Visitation will be Tuesday, October 6, 2020, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, and continue Wednesday, October 7, 2020, from 9:00 – 11:00 am.  The funeral service will be Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at 11:00 am in LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Lee officiating.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.

Burial will follow in Birds Creek Cemetery in the Whitlock Community of Paris.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
