Melvin Andrew Sanders

Melvin Andrew Sanders, age 87 of Springville, TN, died Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at his residence.

He lived and grew up in the Pleasant Hill Community of Henry County, where he farmed most of his life growing soybeans, cotton, grain crops, and raised cattle.  In addition to farming, he also worked at Holly Carburetor for 15 years.  Melvin enjoyed raising sweet corn and sharing it with everyone in the community.  He was quick to help anyone in need.  He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed.

Melvin was born October 24, 1934, in Henry County, TN, to the late Woodrow Burnett Sanders and the late Callie Bea Francisco Sanders.

He was married November 12, 1953, to Selonia Molly Swor Sanders, who survives, of Springville, TN.

Along with his wife, he is also survived by four children, Donna (Gary) Troutt of Camden, TN, Debbie (Jay) Walker of Paris, Phyllis Sanders of Springville, TN, and Lynn (Craig Wilson) Sanders of Paris; two sisters, Nadine Hatley of Beechmont, KY, and Josephine Funderburk of Dennis, MS; one brother, Cotton (Betty) Sanders of Paris; seven grandchildren, Andy (Casi) Troutt, Travis (Kimberly) Troutt, Matthew (Emily) Hastings, Emily Walker, Jessie (Justin) Wright, Molly Patel, and Sarah Cole; and 18 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one daughter in infancy, Mary Beth Sanders; and one brother, Ronnie Sanders.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242.  Visitation will be Friday, November 26, 2021, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, and continue Saturday, November 27, 2021, from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 150 Little Benton Road, Mansfield, TN 38236.  The funeral service will be Saturday, November 27, 2021, at 2:00 pm at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, with Keith Nation officiating.

Grandsons & other family members will serve as pallbearers.

Burial will be in Sanders Family Cemetery in Springville, TN.
