Quentin Martin

September 21, 1928 — September 20, 2019

With great sadness the family of Quentin Lee Martin age 90 of Paris announces his death on Friday, September 20, 2019, one day before his 91 st birthday at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN.

He retired from the Goodyear Service Store in Paris where he served as Service Manager. Quentin formerly owned and operated the Martin Exxon Gas Station alongside his late brother Keith Martin.  He was a US Navy Veteran where he served in the submarine division. He was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church and formerly attended the church services held in the Pine Ridge Apartment Community. Quentin was also a lifetime member of the American Legion and the Elks. He was a 1947 graduate of Buchanan High School.

Born September 21, 1928, in the old 23 rd District of Henry County, he was the son of the late Verner Vivan Martin and the late Martha Belle Richardson Martin.

Growing up in the Old 23 rd district during the great depression, Quentin learned at an early age that nothing should be wasted. He took great pride and used his natural talent to repair things so that they could be used again. His grandchildren’s broken toys and bikes never felt secondhand but remade with love by “Papa”.

He married Madolyn L. “Corky” Erickson Martin December 5, 1951, in Corinth, MS. She preceded him in death December 22, 2007.

He will be lovingly and fondly remembered by his three children, Roxanne (Tom) Hendrix of Paris, Suzanne (David) Stoekel of Everett, WA, and Keith (Shelia) Martin of Clarksville, TN; a sister, Marilla Cox of Mansfield, a brother, James (Connie) Martin of Paris; four grandchildren, Jeremy Martin, Amber Martin, Ashley (Chuck) Holliday, Hannah Peppers and a step grandchild, Amanda Parrish; four great grandchildren, Calvin Martin, Madolyn Holliday, William Holliday and Finn Martin Plyer; and a step great grandchild, Bradley Parrish

In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Roseanne “Rosie” Baker and a brother, Keith Martin.
