Rio Rita York

July 21, 1931 — June 15, 2021

Rio Rita York, age 89 of Peoria, AZ, formerly of Paris, died Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at Hospice of the Valley Thunderbird Home in Glendale, AZ.

She worked hard in and outside the home. On a farm, in the factory, wherever she was needed. She retired from Digital Equipment Corp. in Arizona. Her greatest joys were her faith, traveling and spending time with her family. Rita was the matriarch of our family, best known for her southern cooking skills and the ability keep our family connected through food and a place to call home whenever needed.

Rita was born in Paris, TN on July 21, 1931, to Luddie Lavern and Paul Paschall. She married Claude York in Paris, TN on May 1, 1948, and he preceded in death on January 24, 2004.

She is survived by four daughters, Judy (Arthur) Thompson of Arizona, Edith Worley of Colorado, Claudia (Tony) Skilton of New Hampshire, Paula (Jeff) Lamear of New Hampshire; one son, Paul David (Linda) York of Arizona; 17 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one son, Roger York; two daughters, Pamela Royal, and Susan Bond; and one brother, Carl Edward Prince.

Local arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN.  A private family graveside service was held Friday, June 25, 2021, at Bevil Cemetery in Paris, TN.

Family will serve as pallbearers.
