Robert L. "Bob" Hailey

Robert L. “Bob” Hailey, age 86 of Paris, TN, died Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris.

He retired after a 30-plus year career as an industrial engineer for Emerson Electric in Paris.  He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church and a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class.  Bob loved to garden and plant flowers and enjoyed watching the birds on his deck.  He was an avid University of Tennessee Volunteers fan and St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Bob was born October 25, 1934, in Brownsville, TN, to the late Robert Louie Hailey and the late Edith Estelle Gooch Hailey.  He was a first-generation college graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering in 1956 from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.  While at UT, he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity.

He was married in 1957 to his wife of 64 years, Amanda Hurdle Hailey, who survives, of Paris.

Along with his wife, he is also survived by his daughter, Melissa Kate (Don) Oliver of Collierville, TN; his son, Brad (Karen) Hailey of Knoxville, TN; one sister, Beverly Dixon of Memphis, TN; and three grandchildren, Carter Hailey Oliver, Jack Henry Oliver, and Olivia Grace Hailey.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242.  Visitation will be Saturday, February 27, 2021, from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Dr. Trent Bullock and Jimmy Williams officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Carter Oliver, Jack Oliver, Don Oliver, Kevin Dixon, Alan Wall, and Mike Turner.  Named as honorary pallbearers are Phil Wichlan, Donnie Linville, Bill Harding, and the members of the FBC Friendship Sunday School Class.

Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Paris.
