Rosemary Parkhill King

January 24, 1934 — June 12, 2021

Rosemary Parkhill King, age 87 of Paris, died Saturday, June 12, 2021, in Paris.

First and foremost, Rosemary loved her Lord, and was dedicated to treating all people with kindness and respect. She enjoyed working at the Mitchum Company and Holley Carburetor before retiring from Eastwood Clinic. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and belonged to the LLL group. Enjoying her time with her family and friends, specifically her grandchildren were especially important to her. Rosemary also enjoyed writing poetry.

Born January 24, 1934, in Paris, she was the daughter of the late Rufe Leonard “Sonny” Parkhill, Jr., and the late Lucy Rose Bomar Parkhill.

She was married September 26, 1986, to Charles Gilbert “Chick” King, who preceded her in death July 9, 2012.

Survivors include: her daughter, Teresa (Rickey) Matheny of Paris, two grandchildren, Melissa (Ray) Taylor III, and Julie (Colter) Sherrod, both of Paris; four great grandchildren, Gage Sherrod, Emsley Sherrod, Merrick Taylor, and Izabella Taylor.

Additional survivors include two stepsons, Charles Richard “Dickie” King of Paris, and Jim (Jeanne) King of Tennessee; two step grandchildren, Amy King Cagle, and Kristy King Bugg, along with four step great grandchildren, Avery Cagle, Ellie Cagle, Maddox Bugg, and Oliver Bugg.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a son and daughter in law, Tony (Angie) Horn; two brothers, Jimmy Parkhill, and Roland Parkhill; and two granddaughters, Leslie Horn, and Jenny Horn.

Ridgeway Funeral Home 201 Dunlap St./ P.O. Box 788, Paris, TN 38242 will be handling the arrangements. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 16, 2021, from 11 am until 1 pm. Her funeral service will be Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at 1 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Rev. Trent Bullock officiating.

Pallbearers for the service are Gage Sherrod, Colter Sherrod, Ray Taylor III, David Parkhill, Bryan Parkhill, And Evan Parkhill.

Burial will follow the service in Palestine Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Palestine Cemetery Fund c/o Betty Carter 3245 Gate 3 Rd., Paris, TN 38242.
