William T. “Bill” Dumas, age 88 of Cottage Grove, TN, died Monday, August 26, 2019, at RoseStone Retirement Community in Paris, TN.
Bill was a retired maintenance engineer from the gas plant in Cottage Grove. He was a member of Cottage Grove United Methodist Church, the Cottage Grove Masonic Lodge #109, the Buchanan Lodge # 772, and the Optimist Club. Bill served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and he loved gardening.
Born December 27, 1930 in Paris, TN, he was the son of the late James Howard Dumas and the late Billie Williams Dumas.
He married Peggy French Dumas on August 17, 1958, who preceded him in death.
Bill is survived by his two daughters, Pamela Ann (Joey) Choate of Cottage Grove, TN, and Linda Dumas (Dennis) Ziemba of Highlands, NJ; three grandchildren, Lucas (Johanna) Choate, Josh (Whitney) Choate, and Hannah Choate; and three great grandchildren, Farren Milam, Adalynn Choate, and Meira Choate.
Along with his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Jim “Spider” Dumas; and a grandchild, Alison Leigh Choate.
Ridgeway Funeral Home 201 Dunlap St., Paris, TN 38242 will be handling the arrangements. Visitation will be Thursday, August 29, 2019, at Ridgeway Funeral Home beginning at 11:00 am, with a Masonic service to be held at 12:40 pm. The funeral service will be Thursday, August 29, 2019, at 1:00 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Mike Wimberley officiating.
Pallbearers for the service are Joey Choate, Luke Choate, Josh Choate, Dennis Ziemba, Ted Parrish, and Howard Powell. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Jeff Morris, Scott Parrish, Jimmy Powell, and Bobby Owens.
Burial will be in Walker Cemetery in Paris, TN.
